新加坡艺术学／设计学博士全奖申请解析

新加坡地处位于东南亚中南半岛南端，是一个占地只有724平方公里的小小岛国。虽然新加坡的教育久负盛名，但申请的难度确实比较大，导致大家都没有把新加坡放在博士留学的考虑范围内。最近有很多学生问我，希望我推荐一些离家近，教学质量高，费用方面比较合理的国家或者地区。我觉得是时候给大家推荐一波新加坡了～

新加坡读博最大的好处有三点：离家近、学校知名度高（国内认可度高）、奖学金多。离家近就不用多说了，大家都是亚洲的好兄弟。

新加坡比较知名的公立大学有：

• 新加坡国立大学（NUS）- 亚洲第1，世界第11
• 南洋理工大学（NTU）- 亚洲第3，世界第13
• 新加坡管理大学（SMU）
• 新加坡科技设计大学（SUTD）

学制：3-5年，入学时间为1月/8月。

设计方面：有industry design工业设计

a spectrum of design issues, from design processes and methods, to design problems concerning product users.
interactive design, environmental and sustainability concerns. The research areas of the Industrial Design programme include design theory, practice and innovation, technology and universal design, and biomedical equipment design.

Art方面：研究方向主要偏向于艺术史、文化研究、communication、new media。同时，学校有与KCL合作的博士项目。

学制：2-5年，入学时间为1月/8月。

艺术设计Phd主要是在艺术、设计和社会科学学院旗下，主要方向有：

• Digital Humanities and Art
• Culture and Identity
• Culture and Heritage
• Art History and Criticism
• Southeast Asian Art, Design and Media
• Production Culture
• Art in Motion
• Sight and Sound
• Design Studies

这所学校选择较少，只有HCI-人机交互相关的PhD。

学制：3-5年，入学时间1月/9月。

• Architecture and Sustainable Design (ASD) – focusing on sustainable architectural and urban solutions to meet the present and future needs of buildings and cities
• Engineering Product Development (EPD) – focusing on innovative technology-intensive products that span multiple disciplines
• Engineering Systems and Design (ESD) – focusing on large-scale complex systems whose performance and function depend on their technology and socio-economic context
• Information Systems Technology and Design (ISTD) – focusing on information systems that interact with the physical world, humans and machines
• Science and Math – focusing on wide-ranging, interdisciplinary research that is grounded in Science and Math fundamentals and with practical applications
• Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences (HASS) – focusing on understanding social and technological transformations through empowering lenses of humanities and social sciences

在新加坡，全日制博士生都有奖学金的，奖学金在cover学费的基础上，基本上可以cover 掉一部分生活费。但是目前奖学金最多只提供48个月，如果你因为种种原因超过了4年，之后的费用就需要自理了。跟别的全奖博士一样，全奖博士需要每个学期需要做助教，比如带课、批改作业、给本科生答疑等。

新加坡是英语为主的，所以博士申请和就读都是以英语为主，一般来说入学的语言要求是6-7分左右。

• 与所有海外博士申请的材料是一样的。Research Proposal，CV，PS，推荐信，writing sample或者作品集。
• 新加坡非常看重高质量的RP，所以RP一定要好好准备。
• 学校也建议学生在申请之前，与导师进行提前联系，也就是所谓的套磁。

因为是全奖，自然竞争激烈啦。套磁需要注意的就是，时刻展示你的学术性专业性。导师也希望来一个聪明勤快的学生，到时候一起搞科研一起发paper嘛，因此套磁过程中展示出成熟，自信，以及专业的一面最为重要啦。

1. 新加坡虽然分两个时间段入学，但是他们是有明确的递交ddl要求的。这个一定要注意，不要错过了递交申请的时间。
2. 建议同学们提早开始准备！因为全奖，所以新加坡高校对于学生的本硕背景、学术能力要求都比较高，因此早点开始准备材料和套磁也是非常重要的，尤其是水平一般般的同学（无高质量论文发表，本硕学校较为一般…）。
